Obituary for Roger Wayne Gilby

Roger Wayne Gilby of Lebanon, was born November 3, 1954, to John and Margaret (Sharp) Gilby in Cameron Missouri. He passed from this life on June 5, 2014. Roger was 59 years old, and was looking forward to a family gathering for his 60th birthday. He moved to Lebanon from Lathrop, Missouri, in 2007 to be near family.
Roger attended schools at Polo, Missouri, then Mirabile, and graduated from Cameron High School in 1973. At Cameron High he was very active in FFA (Future Farmers of America). He enjoyed helping on the farm and working with livestock. He worked at sale barns and for several area farmers in the Lathrop area. While living in Lebanon, he often helped his cousin, Randy Gilby, by moving hay equipment, raking hay and anything else he could do to help Randy and Nathan (Randy’s son) with their farms.
He was baptized while in Lebanon, Missouri, and regularly attended Southern Heights Christian Church. Each Sunday Roger would arrive early and help set up his Sunday School Class. He loved his church family.
Roger was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Jane Zimmerman; his mom, Margaret Gilby and his dad, John Gilby. He is survived by his first and second cousins mainly all living around Lebanon, Missouri, and a cousin in Kansas City, Missouri.
Roger will be greatly missed by his cousins, his church family, his friends in Lebanon, and his friends up “North” (that’s what Roger called them).
