Cameron, Missouri - Ada Leilah Callaway, 95, Cameron passed away on August 7, 2014.
Ada was born February 1, 1919 to Eli and Nellie Hawkins in Gallatin Mo.
She moved to Cameron in 1929 where she lived until her death. She graduated from Cameron High School in 1935, was an active member of the First Baptist Church and served faithfully until her health declined. She sang in the choir, directed the handbell choir, taught Sunday school for more than 30 years, and organized funeral dinners. She belonged to many church and women's organizations, served on the board of the Cameron Nutrition Site and received a volunteer of the year award in 2007. She owned and operated a women's clothing store, Ada's Fashion Center for many years.
She was known for her doll collection, at one time numbering close to 1500 and loved quilting and painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elvin, parents, a sister, Olive, brother Virgil Hawkins and nephew John Hawkins.
Ada is survived by daughter, Barbara (Jack) Barnes, Cameron, son, Fred (Dana) Callaway, St. Joseph, four grandchildren,11 great- grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece.
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Monday, August 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church with visitation from 10-11:00 AM.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church and/or the Stella Grinstead Nutrition Center.
