1930-2016


Cameron, Missouri- Bennie Ray Gordon, 85, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Cameron Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 22, 1930 to Elmer and Roberta (Cox) Gordon at Gallatin, MO. He was a 1947 graduate of Jameson High School.
On February 11, 1951, he married Dolores Frost in Gallatin, MO.
Bennie was drafted into the United States Army in February 1952. He served in the Korean War for thirteen months. Upon his discharge in November 1953, they operated the Standard Oil service station in Gallatin, MO. In December 1956, Standard Oil moved them to Cameron. In April of 1963 started Gordon Oil Company at 909 N. Walnut, Cameron. He started Gordon Trucking Company from 1970-1997. After retirement, he became custodian at First Baptist Church, Cameron, until June 2015. His passions were family, golfing, helping others and staying busy. He will be greatly missed by all.
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois Stretch.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Cameron.
Survivors: wife of 65 years, Dolores Gordon, of the home; 2 sons, Larry (Marlene) Gordon, Weatherby, Jim (Jan) Gordon, Cameron; 2 daughters, Carolyn (Kermit) Kirklin, Bolivar, MO and Cheryl Tyner, Paragould, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, Jessie Carter, Crystal King, Misty Love, Carly Gordon, Jaci Chadwick, Jami Gordon, Emily Kirklin, Timothy Kirklin, Kately Tyner and Kassie Tyner; 9 great-grandchildren, Jagger Carter, Felicia King, Justyn Carter and Jakob Carter, Harley Roe, Molly Roe, Justin Chadwick, Jeorgia Chadwick and Bryant Gordon; brother, Ronald Gordon; 3 sisters, Anna Marshall, Marjorie Gatenby and Doris Evans.
Services: 1:30 PM, Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Cameron. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM, Monday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO.
