Vera F. Jones

Our dear, sweet Mother, Vera Fern Jones, 89, slipped peacefully away on June 12, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville, Colorado.
Vera was born on December 31, 1926 to Elsa M Doak and Ben H Johnson of Osborn Missouri. Her husband of 45 years, John Edward Jones, preceding her in death as well as her parents, her seven siblings: Melvin, Evelyn, Dorothy, Darrell, Carl (Cap), Dean, Annabel, and her grandson Joseph Jones. She is survived by her three children; James Jones (Elaine) of Longmont, Tamara McKenna (Bob) of Louisville, Sheila Zaininger (John) of Louisville, ten grandchildren: John, Steve, Corey, Renee, Nicholas, Michelle, J.T., Alexa, Alana, and Mallory. Seven great-grandchildren: Daniel, Teresa, Nya, Christopher, Ansleigh, Liam, and Lincoln. She is also survived by numerous Johnson and Jones family members.

In 1957, John and Vera moved their family to Fort Collins, Colorado from Missouri. They lived in Fort Collins for eight years before moving to Boulder. Vera was a student liaison at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. She worked for Boulder Valley Schools for twenty three years then as a secretary at Arapahoe Elementary in Boulder and at Ryan Elementary in Lafayette. She retired in 1988.
Vera was a member of the First Christian Church where she was a youth group leader, choir member, and attended religious classes. Her affiliations include the American Organ Theater Society, PEO, Botanic club, and Rebecca Lodge. Vera was an accomplished organist and painter. She loved the mountains, Monet, Maui, traveling, gardening, and spending time at her cherished Sholine Ranch, but most of all, she loved spending time with her precious grandchildren.
We will always remember Vera's love and kindness toward all people and we will always wish that she is still here. Her spirit will live in our hearts forever.
