Obituary for Edna Mae McQuerrey (Puterbaugh)

Edna Mae McQuerrey, 93, Cameron, passed away on June 5, 2017.
Edna was born September 7, 1923 in Kidder, Missouri to Arthur and Vinnita (VanOstrand) Puterbaugh.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Maurice L. McQuerrey; daughter, Marcia Carter, Murphy, Downey; brothers, Raymond, Steve and Larry Puterbaugh and sisters, Dorothy Bloss, Thelma McKee and MaryAnn Mereness.
Edna’s passions in life were her family and friends, her faith in God and working at the Cameron Development Center. She was a homemaker until her husband’s death. She then joined the workforce in 1970 as director of the Cameron Development Center, a day care center for individuals with special needs. It was located in her church basement when it began and throughout the years she helped upgrade the facility to a building of their own. It then was named after Edna. She worked there 47 years, until her passing.
Survivors: Son, Gary (Sharon) McQuerrey, Plattsburg, Missouri; daughters, Joyce Edwards, St. Joseph, Missouri, Kathy (Jim) Atchity, St. Joseph, Missouri, and Lisa (Kendall) Morgan, Kingston, Missouri; son in law, Brant Downey, Plattsburg, Missouri; 13 grandchildren, Azalee Morgan, Wyatt Morgan, Shannon McQuerrey, Clint Edwards, Terri Sallee, Jill Edwards, Natalie Brack, Luke Carter, Grant Murphy, Laura Murphy, Haley Nixon, Lacey Lewis and Alex Atchity.
13 great- grandchildren, Grace McQuerrey, Jackson McQuerrey, Zane Edwards, Colin Edwards, Emily Edwards, Trevor Johnson, Maggie Johnson, Sophia DeSimone, Shelby Carter, Jared Carter, Brock Murphy, Caroline Nixon and Benjamin Nixon; and several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.
Edna also took in countless others along her life’s journey. Those claiming her as their mom are her nephew, Joe Bloss, Kelley Craig, Yoko Mogi-Hein and Kay Leeper.
Funeral Service- 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the First Christian Church, Cameron. Visitation at 9:00- 11:00 AM prior to the funeral service. Burial in Cameron Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Development Center and /or First Christian Church of Cameron.
