Obituary for Jay Perry Sandgren

Maysville, Missouri- Jay Perry Sandgren, 73, Maysville, Missouri passed away at home surrounded by family on October 20, 2017 after suffering a yearlong battle with cancer.
He was born November 26, 1943 and was a 1961 graduate of Maysville High School. He attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO and St. St. Joseph Community College in St. Joseph, MO. He married Alice Hahn in the First Baptist Church in Cameron on November 23, 1962.
Jay really enjoyed his flowers and his Boxer dogs, but most of all he loved his family.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents, Rodie and Rosalie Sandgren; son, Richard “Rick” Sandgren; parents-in-law, Harry and Edna Hahn; brothers-in-law, Junior and Alfred Hahn.
He is survived by Alice, his wife of 54 years; daughter-in-law, Leslie Sandgren; sons, Michael “Mick” Sandgren and Nicholas “Nick” Sandgren; daughter, Jaylene (Andrew) Shaw; 2 sisters, Jo Sandgren and Sherri (Mark) Winfrey; brother, Robert “Bob” Sandgren; 8 grandchildren, Dustin (Cameron) Sandgren, Kiley (Kelly) Young, Kolbey (Lindsey) Sandgren, Michael D. Sandgren, A.J. and Harrison Shaw, Blake Sandgren and Kage Sandgren; 8 great-grandchildren, Blair, Graham, Colin Sandgren, “Short Man” Jayce and Caroline Young, Avery and “Mini Me” Peytonn Sandgren and Jaden Graham; sisters and brothers-in law; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Services: 2:00 PM, Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at the Fairport Baptist Church, Fairport, MO. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron, MO. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron, MO.
