Obituary for Frieda Katherine Miller (Kirby)

Frieda Katherine Miller (Kirby)
Frieda K. Miller
1936-2018

Cameron, Missouri- Frieda Katherine Kirby Miller, 81, Cameron passed away on May 12, 2018 at The Village in Cameron MO.
Frieda was born in Modena, Missouri on September 24, 1936. She and her twin brother, Frederick Casper Kirby, were the 5th and 6th children born to C.W. Kirby and Wilma Butcher Kirby. Twins were rare in the area at the time and they were quite the talk of the community.
Freida’s father and mother operated the drugstore and post office in Modena. All the children worked there as they became old enough. An outdoor movie was shown each week at the side of the drugstore. Freida sold tickets to the movie, making change from a muffin tin. There were no televisions or computers, so the children played outside all day. They played hopscotch, hide-and-seek, rode silts and swam in
the creek.
Frieda attended Modena Grade School, Princeton, MO. High school and graduated from the University of Kansas City (UMKC) with a degree in Business Administration. She was employed by AT&T for 30 years. She worked as a Sales Associate for Jones/Macy’s for 20 years.
Freida married Robert Neville Miller on May 22, 1965. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her twin brother Frederick Casper Kirby, brother Thomas Kirby, and sister Ramona Paulus.
Survivors: brother, Warren Kirby, Trenton MO; sister, Louella Horning, Walnut Grove, CA; 3 step-daughters, Linda Greenlee, Susie Berry and Deanna Sickles. Freida was affectionately called “Aunt Fee” by her nieces and nephews. The family would especially like to thank Woody Owen, Betty Owen and family, caregivers from Interim Health for their excellent work and loving care.
Graveside services: 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Modena, MO. Visitation: 7-8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron.
