John R. Burr
1960-2020

Osborn, Missouri- John Robert Burr, 60, passed away on August 24, 2020. He had battled lung cancer for the past sixteen months, and passed unexpectedly the night of August 24th.
He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, June 10, 1960 to Robert and Beatrice (Bush) Burr.
He graduated from Osborn High School, class of 1978 and received an Associate Degree from Platt College.
Preceding him in death; his late wife, Lorie Burr; parents, Robert and Beatrice Burr; stepmother, Ella Burr; mother and father in laws, Aggie and Pete Mann, Eldon and Bonnie Shipps; and nephews, Jacob Mann and Christopher Huff.
John had three children of his own, three step children, and many others that referred to him as Papa Burr. He and his wife were also raising three of their grandchildren at his time of passing. John was very involved in his local community and made the news speaking out against wind turbines.
He was passionate about the Chiefs, the Royals, and America. He enjoyed shooting guns, and listening to classic country music as well as attending his grandkids' activities. On a warm day you could find him on the porch of the farm house he grew up in, watching the kids play. John was a man of many trades, ending his career working for the US Postal Service.
He is survived by; wife, Hope Burr, of the home; children, Jeanine (Jeff) Knights,of Parkville, MO, Sarah (Braydon) Taylor of Lawson, MO, Ethan (Holli) Burr of Liberty, MO, Rosetta (Ivan Martinez) Herring of St Joseph, MO, Anthony Shipps of Osborn, MO, and Katherine Webb of Cameron, MO; grandchildren, Elvis, Maranda and Opal, of the home, Lillian Hope, Craig, Ella, Delilah, Beatrice, Edmund, Phoenix, Kylee, Kaden, Hunter, Liliana, Willow and Jeffrey; brother, Jim (Peggy) Burr of Kearney, MO; sister, Deborah Burr of Kansas City, MO; aunts, Mary Lee Tutt of Kansas City, MO, Ruth Ann Bush of St. Joseph, MO; mother in law, June Shipps Pickney of Urbana, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews. John will be missed but not forgotten.

Services: 4:00 PM, Sunday, August 30, 2020, Poland-Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation: 2:00- 4:00 PM, prior to the service. Inurnment at a later date.
