Obituary for Kathryn Marie Bell (Ogden)

Kathryn M. Bell
1920-2014

Just as the beautiful dogwoods were in full bloom and the fragrant peonies were ready to open, Kathryn Marie Ogden Bell, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, age 93, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away and went home to be with the Lord on May 6, 2014.
Kathryn was born May 27, 1920, the daughter of Roy and Lola (Cox) Ogden. She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Myron, her parents and her sister, Virginia Ball.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sharon and Don Hartley, Independence, Martha and Dean Phillips, Liberty, Deanne and Richard Bronaugh, Overland Park, KS; 5 grandchildren, Laura Maxey (Scott), Derrick Hartley (Wendy), Aimee Griffin (Geoff), Todd Phillips (Jamie) and Elisabeth Megli (David); 10 great-grandchildren, Ceanne, Camille, Chloe, Cathryne and Caroline Maxey, Cole, Beckett and Nicolaas Griffin, Annie Hartley and William Phillips, plus two others on their way.
Kathryn married Myron Bell, April 6, 1941. They lived for many years on a farm in the Kendall Chapel Community, Hamilton, MO. She was active in the Kendall Chapel Church and was known for her hospitality and her wonderful meals- especially delicious pie. She enjoyed fellowshipping over games and cards with her family and many friends plus always delighted in serving them one of her special treats. But her greatest joys were her husband, three daughters and their families who brought much sunshine into her life.
After selling their farm, Myron and Kathryn moved to Cameron, MO, living there for many years. While living in Cameron, they would spend winters in Arizona, where they also enjoyed many friendships. In 2004, they moved to the Carlyle Retirement Community in Lee’s Summit, MO so they could be closer to family. Kathryn enjoyed living there so much and was blessed to be able to spend her last years there. As she grew older, she loved having family come and eat a meal with her and always gave an extra big smile when her grandchildren arrived for a visit.
Kathryn is best remembered by her family as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother and one who had a quiet faith but whose life gave evidence to the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control. These words describe Kathryn so beautifully. She will be dearly missed.
Services will be held at the First Baptist Church, Cameron, MO on Friday May, 9, 2014 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron. Memorial contributions can be made at Kendall Chapel Church or First Baptist Church, Cameron. Arrangements: Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
