1934-2014

Winston, Missouri- Herschell Wayne Smoot, 80, Winston, passed away on July 12, 2014.
Herschell was born on March 21, 1934 in Atlanta, Missouri to Aaron and Hattie (Downey) Smoot.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Harold, Donald, Larry, Wilfred and George; 3 sisters, Barbara, Betty and Doreen.
He was a member of the Liberty Church of Christ; member and current commander of Elmer Ellis Post #33, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post #7158, a member of the 40 & 8 Club, and a ham radio operator.
Herschell was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.
Herschell was a graduate of Bevier High School and was a Lineman for NW Electric Cooperative in Cameron, MO.
On November 26, 1984, Herschell married Linda Bloss Hutton. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors: 6 daughters, Joyce (Mike) Loveridge, Kearney, Lola Tobolik, Cameron, Cynthia Brookshier, Gower, Lila Combs, Trenton, Tina (Tim) Beers, Turney, Tammy Clough, Cameron; 2 sons, Tim (Michelle) Hutton and Tracey (Valerie) Hutton, Cameron; 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Services: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the First Christian Church, Cameron. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM, Monday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Memorial fund: American Legion Scholarship Fund and or the First Christian Church Youth Fund. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
