Cameron, Missouri- Marjorie Lilian Beck, 89, Cameron formerly of Osborn, Missouri passed away on January 4, 2015.
Marjorie was born on May 29, 1925 to Leonard and Lilian (Downes) Rodwell in Penkridge, Staffordshire England
Marjorie was a war bride; she married Eugene Martin Beck on May 8, 1944 in England. Their son Paul was born there in July 1945.
Marjorie and Eugene made their home in Osborn, had three more children and were married for 30 years, eventually divorcing in 1974.
Marjorie became a member of the Osborn United Methodist Church in March, 1957.
She worked as a seamstress at Big Smith in St. Joseph and then at the Stride Rite Shoe Factory in Hamilton, each for many years. At times, Marjorie would also help her husband, Eugene at Beck’s Standard Station at the Osborn Junction.
She liked to knit, dance and go shopping and always liked to be on the go!!! Marjorie loved decorating her large Victorian home and did that by going to garage and estate sales on the weekends.
She loved her town of Osborn and her home, but in 2007, at the age of 82, Marjorie’s health was declining. She moved to the St. Patrick’s Apartments in Cameron and lived there until November 2013. Her children watched over her while she lived there and then they had to move her to the Cameron Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where her daughter, Sandra watched over her every day.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; former husband, Eugene in 1986 and son, Mark in 2001.
Survivors: son, Paul (Brenda) Beck, Cameron; 2 daughters, Suzette Hayter and partner, Mitch Swindler, Cameron, Suzette’s former husband, Ronnie Hayter, Osborn and Sandra (Rick) Bottorff, Kidder, MO; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jean Surridge, Toronto, Canada; sister-in-law, Rachael Lou (Beck) Wilson and Nephew, Mike Wilson, both of Frisco, TX
Services: 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Osborn United Methodist Church, Osborn. Visitation: 6-8:00 PM, Friday evening at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Marjorie’s wishes were to be cremated after the service. Inurnment at a later date at Osborn Evergreen Cemetery, Osborn. Memorial donations to the Osborn United Methodist Church.
