Obituary for Marie Smith (Bowman)

Marie  Smith (Bowman)
Marie Smith, 91, Cameron, passed away Saturday, February 7, 2105 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center unexpectedly.
She was born on September 27, 1923 in Pattonsburg, Missouri to Ashford and True (Davidson) Bowman.

In 1950, Marie married Vern Smith. Due to Vern’s military service, they lived in numerous places throughout the United States. Marie retired from the Norfolk, Virginia, City School System. They returned to Cameron in 1991 to retire and live close to their daughter and grandson.

Marie will be remembered as a tremendously classy lady who enjoyed life to the fullest. Her smile was infectious. Her love of people and the ability to find good in everyone was her gift. Her life centered around her daughter, Francee and grandson, Christian, whom she loved unconditionally.

Marie was very active and always on the go. She was a member of the Cameron United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s Circle, ABWA, TOPS, The National Square Dance/Round Dance Association and served over thirteen years as Commissioner of the Board for the Cameron Housing Authority.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, Vern Smith; brother, Jack Bowman and sister, Midge Snider.
Survivors: Daughter, Francee Virts and grandson, Christian Virts.
Services: 2:00PM, Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Poland Thompson Funeral Home. Visitation 6-8 PM, Tuesday, February 10th at the funeral home. Burial in Cameron Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marie Smith Memorial Fund. All monies will be used to create a memorial in Marie's memory at Liberty Cardiovascular Specialists.
