Cameron, MO- Richard Wayne Foster, 87, Cameron, passed away on April 18, 2015 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center.
Richard was born on June 3, 1927 in Sumner, Missouri to Oren and Edna Mae (Allen) Foster.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Wade Foster who he married in August 17, 1947 in Linneus, MO. He is also survived by 2 children: Linda Whitaker (Carl) of Indianapolis IN, and Roger Foster (Susan Mickey) of Austin TX; 2 sisters survive, Virginia Walker (Bob) of Cameron, and Betty McCollum (J.R. Browning) of Brookfield. He's also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Herbert, Raymond, James and 1 sister, Mildred Brenner.
After attending Chillicothe Business College, he was hired by N W Electric Power Co-Op in Cameron. He worked as an accountant in Milan and in Maryville. He was manager of Howard County REA in Fayette and manager of Atchison - Holt REC in Rock Port, MO. He then became manager of N W Electric Power Co-Op in Cameron until he retired.
He served on numerous state and national boards for the NREC as well as President Jimmy Carter's Energy Commission.
In his younger days, he was a mentor for the Boy Scouts and the 4 - H Clubs. He was instrumental in the creation of the Stella Grinstead Senior Nutrition Center in Cameron.
He was an active member of the United Methodist Church until he entered the nursing home.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 22, 2015 from 6pm to 8pm at the Poland Thompson Funeral Home, 222 W 3rd Street, Cameron MO 64429. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Cameron United Methodist Church, 201 N Pine Street, Cameron MO 64429. Burial will be at the Laclede Cemetery in Laclede MO after the services. Memorials may be made to the Cameron United Methodist Church. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
