Cameron, Missouri – Joseph Carl Whitaker, Sr., 66, Cameron passed away on October 26, 2015.
Joseph was born on September 17, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Miles Raymond and Monica Alice (Murphy) Whitaker.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Monica; sister, Mary Ellen Whitaker and brothers-in-law, Monty Biggerstaff and Garry Owens.
He was a 1967 graduate of Cameron High School. Joseph was a veteran of the United States Army serving in active duty from 1969-1972 during the Vietnam War.
Joseph was a member of the St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron, 4th degree of Knights of Columbus Council 1110 and life member of the VFW.
On September 2, 1972, Joseph married Joyce Owens in Cameron, MO. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors: 4 children, Joe, Jr. (Carrie) Whitaker, Cameron, Jeremy (Christy) Whitaker, Cameron, twins, Jimmy Whitaker and Jackie (Alan) Krebs, Cameron; father, Raymond Whitaker, Cameron; 2 brothers, Lyle (Kelly) Whitaker, Macon, MO and John (Cindee) Whitaker, Hamilton; 2 sisters, Martha (Jerry) Gates, Cameron and Julie Biggerstaff, Kansas City, MO; 16 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Brenda Shirley, Oklahoma; 2 brothers-in-law, Larry (Jackie) Owens, Colorado and Ron (Jennifer) Owens, Missouri.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 31, 2015 at St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron. Visitation: 9-10:00 AM, with Rosary following at 10:00 AM at Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Cremation to follow service. Memorial fund: Wounded Warriors Project.
