Nelson R. (Bob) Denton, Jr.
1925-2016
Cameron, Missouri- Nelson Robert (Bob) Denton, 91, Cameron, passed away Wednesday, November 3, 2016.
Bob was born June 5, 1925 in Amsterdam, New York to Nelson R. and Marian (Weaver) Denton.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bob was a Navy veteran, serving during World War II as a Torpedoman on the USS Independence, followed by a career with the army for 32 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Elmer Ellis Post #33, VFW Voris Pemberton, and the Knights of Columbus Council #1110.
Bob was very proud to participate in the 2013 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
Survivors: Wife of 68 years, Irene Denton, of the home; daughter, Terry (David) Garrison, Cameron, MO; 3 grandsons, Andy (Athena) Garrison, Lathrop, MO, Bryan Garrison, Cameron, MO and Kevin Garrison, Kansas City, MO; 4 great-grandsons and 1 great-granddaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at St. Munchin Catholic Church, Cameron. Rosary: 6:00 PM, Friday evening with visitation following 6:30-8:00 PM at Poland Thompson Funeral Home. Burial in Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron.
