The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Barbara Ann Coolman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Mary Schmitz Brand

Please know that your family is in my prayers as you gather to celebrate Barb's life and faith. Although I haven't seen her since she was a newlywed, we were close friends at the University of Nebraska. Like many friendships formed at that tender time of life, we shared new and exciting experiences and ideas. We confided our hopes and dreams in one another, not being able to predict at that time that most of them would come true. We were both blessed to fall in love and marry our college sweethearts and we attended one another's weddings. Then God took us in different directions, Barb and Jim to Cameron, Missouri and Ron and I to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I wish that we had kept in touch more consistently and that we had been able to see each other again. But her beautiful smile, warm heart and strong relationship to God remain an inspiration to me. I know that the most important dreams of her life were fulfilled by becoming a wife, a mother and a grandmother. Het legacy will live on through you, her children and grandchildren, and also through the many people who were honored to be her friends throughout the years. God be with you and guide you through your grief. With deepest respect, Mary Brand
