Cameron, Missouri- Alfred Eugene Hahn, age 76 was born December 15, 1937, the second son of Harry and Edna (Burnett) Hahn near Cameron MO. He passed away at home surrounded by his loving family in the evening of December 21, 2013.
Alfred was a 1956 graduate of Cameron High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia “Pat” Long in the First Christian Church, Cameron, on August 20, 1958.
He was a dairy and beef farmer and was an active member and representative to Associated Milk Producers, Inc (AMPI) for several years. He also served about 20 years on the Grand River Township Road Board and was a member of Cameron First Christian Church.
Alfred enjoyed his farm and his livestock, but most of all he loved his family. He was known for his ready smile, quick wit, and firm handshake. Through the years he mentored many young men who worked for him on the farm and became life long friends. Never once did he complain even during his two and half years experience with cancer treatment.
He is survived by Pat, his wife of 55 years, daughters Loretta “Lori” Foster, Teresa (Terry) Gentry, and his son, Rodney (Kathy) Hahn, all of Cameron. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and another great-granddaughter who will be born in 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Harry Hahn, Jr. He leaves behind brothers, Dale (Barbara) Hahn, Kansas City, Bill (Helen) Hahn, St Joseph; sisters, Alice (Jay) Sandgren, Maysville, and Linda (Paul) Scherer, Liberty. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Wanda Hahn, Kidder, and brother-in-law, J. C. Long, Harlingen, TX, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be held at the First Christian Church, Cameron at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday December 24, 2013, with visitation Monday evening at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial: Cameron Memory Gardens, Cameron.
In lieu of flowers, Alfred expressed wishes to have donations to Children’s Mercy Hospital, Cameron First Christian Church, or Comfort Care Hospice.
