Obituary for Kenneth R. Ausmus

Cameron, Missouri- Kenneth “Kenny” R. Ausmus, 88, Cameron, passed away on December 20, 2014.
Kenny was born on October 14, 1926 in Maysville, Missouri to Phillip and Myrtle (Stegman) Ausmus.
He was a graduate of Maysville High School, Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College, he received his first Master’s in mathematics at the University of Texas, Austin, second Master’s in Administration from Northeast Missouri State University, Kirksville, MO.
Kenny taught at Maysville School District, then the Cameron School District where he coached basketball and football. He became Vice-Principal at the Cameron High School and then, Principal at the Cameron Middle School, retiring in 1983. After retiring from teaching, Kenny then went to work for Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative as an Engineer, retiring in 1996.
Kenny was a member of the United Methodist Church, American Legion Post # 33 and the VFW, all of Cameron.
He was on the Cameron City Council and served as Mayor. He loved the outdoors, hunting, hiking and fishing, also, he was an avid golfer. Kenny enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren to hunt, fish and golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; daughter, Teresa Porter; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survivors: Son, Mark (Deborah) Ausmus, St. Joseph, MO; son, Matt (Lori) Ausmus, Rolla, MO; son, Mike (DeAnn) Ausmus, Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter, Julie Ausmus, Cameron, MO; 11 grandchildren, Andy, Ashley, Ally, Kyle, Justin, Annemarie and Anastasia Ausmus, Aaron, Shellie, Larissa and Brandon Porter; 4 great-grandchildren.
Services: 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the Cameron United Methodist Church, Cameron. Visitation: 1:30-3:00 PM, prior to the service. Cremation to follow the service. Memorial donations to the Cameron Veteran’s Memorial Golf Course and/or Comfort Care Hospice. Arrangements by Poland-Thompson Funeral Home, Cameron. Online condolences: www.polandthompson.com.
